The Eclectika is excited to announce our upcoming open call ‘Ether / Light’, a photography exhibition dedicated to historical, alternative and traditional photographic processes and their exploration of light, time and materiality. The juror for this exhibition is artist, educator, and Assistant Gallery Director for The Eclectika, Lauren E. Allen. ‘Ether / Light’ is open to all artists over the age of 18 and reside in North Texas. Artists are welcome to submit up to 5 works in any historical, traditional or alternative photographic medium. Digitally printed images are welcome if the creation was founded within a material process. Submission fee for the show is $10, payable through our website. Deadline to submit is Friday, April 17 at midnight. Full details in submission form.
ABOUT THE JUROR Currently residing in Dallas Texas, Lauren E. Allen graduated from the University of North Texas in 2024 with a Masters of Fine Arts in Studio Art with a concentration in photography and Cum Laude from Texas Woman’s University in 2014 with a concentration in photography. Lauren’s work is an exploration of the psychological aspects that influence our ideas of self. Utilizing abstracted photographic imagery and fiber, viewers are encouraged to reflect on their own conscious and unconscious identity. Their work has been included in exhibitions at the Deland Museum of Art (Deland, FL) Arlington Museum of Art (Arlington, TX) and Strata Gallery (Santa Fe, NM) among others. With solo exhibitions at The Jung Center (Houston, TX) and Cora Stafford Gallery (Denton, TX).
