My name is Chris King, I come from an art family. We just love to create and always have. My parents (King's Whimsy) have been part of the Fort Worth art scene for around 20 years and I always created with them but about 4 years ago I started 817 Designs and started to take part in shows and create on my own. My mother recently passed so we are doing our best to continue her creativity and vision in eveything that we create. My dad and I run a woodshop together where we refinish furniture, reuse found objects and just in general create fun things out of discarded or unloved items.

Artist Statement

At 817 Designs we do our best to reuse, recycle or repurpose. Whether its making cutting boards out of salvaged wood, refinishing a piece of furniture that would have been otherwise thrown out, or just coming up with a fun creation out of found objects, our main goal is to keep things out of the landfill and give them a second, third or fourth life through creativity and imagination.
