About

My name is Rocio Aguilar, and I was born in Lima, Perú, and my journey with Art by the Andes began during one of my trips back home when I rediscovered the extraordinary artistry of the artisans of my country. What started as a personal reconnection with my cultural roots became a mission to help preserve and share these ancestral traditions. Today I collaborate closely with women artisans from different regions of Perú, co-creating handmade embroidered and textile pieces that honor traditional weaving techniques. I also thoughtfully curate select artisan-made works that along with my aesthetic and values. Through long-term partnership rooted in fair trade principles, I combine my design direction with their craftsmanship to bring their work to new audiences. My business is not only about textiles, it is about heritage, identity and creating meaningful opportunities for Andean women artists to have their work seen beyond borders.

Artist Statement

I co-created handmade embroidered pieces with women artisans from Perú, honoring ancestral weaving traditions while bringing their work to new audiences. I am the face of my business, but I never forget the talented Andean artists behind every piece. Through our collaboration, each work carries their heritage, their hands and our shares story, turning art into a bridge between cultures and a celebration of tradition, creativity, and opportunity.
