My name is Ana Lowe, I was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico and moved from the island to the mainland at a young age. I’m married with 2 beautiful grown kids and a Pitbull named Bella. I’m a firefighter by trade and, as most of you probably know, most firefighters have a side hustle… So here I am. I started painting in 2020, when COVID started making its way into the US. I was “Patient 0” at my department; the 1st person diagnosed with having the virus. Lucky me, I found out on Mother’s Day. Well, I was diagnosed and since the statistics weren’t good for those with autoimmune deficiencies, I figured that things would probably make a turn for the worst. …So, I told my husband that I wanted to see what would happen if I put something on canvas; since I was stuck at home, I took to Amazon and ordered a starters acrylic painting kit. It had everything, including a small tabletop easel. I would sit outside under the warm sun and just paint. Nothing in particular really, just what I saw, my back yard, the sunset, pictures on my phone. Nothing to write home about… Fortunately, I was one of the lucky ones and returned to work after 30 days. Since then, I have continued to paint, and in the process of trying to find my style, I continue to evolve. I don’t consider myself an artist per say, but I’ve had really good feedback on many pieces I have done. With all that being said, that is why I’m here today. I took a leap of faith and decided to be brave. Or as my old captain used to say… “I’m being brave enough to suck at new things!” I hope you enjoy my work and spread the word!
