Cat began her love for creating visual art when she was a young girl with a simple pencil and piece of paper. Her love for drawing continued into her college years at The Ohio State University. Though her studies produced a degree in Fashion Merchandising, she took full advantage of the Fine Art classes available, and included drawing classes, as well as, Art History classes. Though her career took her away from her art practices for a while, in her 30’s, she revisited her love of creating art and began to explore watercolors, and then later acrylic painting. Currently, she likes to explore the dynamic interplay between color, texture, and form using the versatile medium of acrylic paint. Acrylics allow her to build rich, layered surfaces that convey both spontaneity and deliberate precision. Each of her paintings begin as an intuitive response to a color or shape. They are a meditation on movement and energy, capturing fleeting moments of emotion and memory. She seeks to evoke a sense of presence and possibility in each piece with bold gestural strokes. Ultimately, her aim is to create works that invite viewers to linger, explore, and find their own meaning within the shifting landscapes of color and form.
