Artist Statement
I strive to make ceramic pieces that are both functional and charming, whether that's through wheel throwing or hand building. My designs are made with comfortability and practicality in mind. The small imperfections that occur during the process are what make each piece endearing and special.
A key element in my work is the use of animal silhouettes. Animals have always been a big part of my life and using their images in my work feels organic.They make my work feel familiar, approachable, and warm. I believe that modern art doesn't have to be cold or super minimalistic.
My goal is to create pieces of functional art that brings a smile when someone goes to use it. I want my mug to be their favorite mug for their morning coffees simply because it has a cute kitty on it. My hope is that these one of a kind pieces becomes a part of someone's daily life, adding joy and a touch of whimsy to their day.
