About

I am a High School Art teacher at Timberview High School in Mansfield ISD. I have been enjoying this career for 30 years. I get to work with students and teachers to discover and explore their artistic skills and creativity which has led to many fun years of working to discover my own niche. I am very active in the Texas Art Education Association. I work with teachers of TAEA Region 11 as their regional representative and one of their VASE (Visual Art Scholastic Event) directors.

Artist Statement

I grew up in Washington among tall evergreen trees, clear cold water and an ever-changing canvas of blooms. These roots and being native American “Citizen Potawatomi Nation” has had a lot to do with my work today. I came to Texas from Washington to teach in 1998. I quicky put roots down here and have come to love the nature Texas has to offer as much as I did Washington. I love all things in nature, flowers, frogs, birds & bugs. I have spent my creative time gardening, photographing, drawing, and painting my outdoor adventures. In the last few years, I have been using my love of nature, sculpting, recycling, and painting together to create 3 dimensional images of my outdoor adventures that jump off the canvas. I use a joint compound mix and sometimes recycled plastic to build up textures and forms of my images. My love of color has then led me to add vibrant acrylic pigments to the forms with an almost impressionist style. Each bug, bird, and flower hold a special memory of the time I spent photographing them and then helping them come to life on the canvas. I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed creating them! I currently show and sell my art at various Art festivals in the DFW area and in Cool Creak Gallery, Bridgeport Texas.
