About

Creativity has always been a part of my personality. I was fortunate to attend the High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, TX. I earned a BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art in 1982. However, I did not pursue a career in the arts. Eventually, I became a special education teacher. After 26 years, I retired in May 2019. Of course the COVID pandemic affected everything. One positive result for me was having time and energy to get back into being creative. Since mid-2020, I started to paint and haven’t stopped.

Artist Statement

Spiral shapes are universal and have multiple meanings across different cultures. Definitely my favorite thing to doodle during boring faculty meetings. Now, I use the spiral motif as a way to explore color theory. I focus on contrasting matte, glossy, metallic, and textured surfaces. I compose images of opposite concepts in a somewhat whimsical manner.
