About

My earliest memory is doing macaroni art, and I have kept a sketchbook for years. I began my official art career as a printmaker in college. I love the process, but after time I became sensitive to the chemicals and pivoted to digital design and video. When I got out of school I became a graphic designer and eventually, after many, many years I started sharing the artwork I had been doing all along in sketchbooks. I started taking the odd art commission here and there, while low-key selling on Etsy in 2021. Health issues prompted me to rethink a fast-paced marketing career in 2024, and now I am focused on art-making, murals, commissions, and design.

Artist Statement

A touchstone across my art is the use of black ink. Ink has a bold immediacy; it represents a moment in time, when (seemingly) indelible strokes are laid down. A blank sheet in front of you, the only path forward is to believe that every mark is valid and interesting, and then begin. In this way, ink has been a great mentor in the lifelong struggle with my anxious brain. Much of my work is watercolor & ink drawings done on site, sometimes digitally combined & enlarged to capture sketchbook intimacy at a larger scale. I paint and draw places I visit, my home, garden, friends, pets, and other subjects that capture my eye. My business tagline is Flippant. Floral. Feral. That pretty well describes my art vibe. All my products are created/designed by me. I print my own art prints, but sometimes use other vendors for stickers, mug, tea towels, larger card runs, etc. Some of my pieces are kind of quirky and a bit on the dark side, while others are pure joyful beauty. Many of my pieces begin as on-site drawings done in sketchbooks. I sell both original paintings and drawings, as well as high-quality prints (photographic dye on archival paper). I’ve lately been experimenting with paper sculptural pieces and garlands, made from my prints. I’m neurodivergent and can get easily overwhelmed, my art-making is part of my restorative self-care. I’ve also seen it delight and affirm other people, which is incredibly healing and kind of magical.
