Early in the 1970’s I became interested in pottery and its historical significance, focusing on Pueblo pottery of the American Southwest. Beginning with hand-building techniques and soon moving primarily to wheel-thrown and sculpted pieces for both functional and decorative use. My work then—as now—centers on everyday ware that meets practical needs, along with occasional whimsical or myth-inspired pieces that spark the imagination. The “Mugley” line of pottery came to life in mid 1970’s and was produced through the 1990’s. Most of the pottery produced during that time period found its way to new homes through our shops (Mugley Emporium) at Renaissance Festivals in Texas, various Shows as well as some limited wholesale markets and our gift and gallery The Mugley Emporium. Although the interest in pottery did not cease, it was basically sidelined in the year 2000 due to commitments in the corporate arena. In July of 2025, I put aside my corporate hat, pulled out of storage my pottery equipment, materials and supplies, purchased some additional needed items and began Mugley Pottery production once again.
