Artist Statement
My work centers on sculptural and three-dimensional forms shaped by intuition, material exploration, and a hands-on approach to making. I am drawn to found and discarded objects—organic materials, construction remnants, and everyday debris—and I recontextualize them into pieces that emphasize texture, balance, and form. These materials carry their own history, and I use them as a starting point to build compositions that feel both intentional and raw.
I hold a Fine Arts degree, where I developed a broad foundation across disciplines, including printmaking, painting, drawing, graphic design, layout concepts, and gallery installation. This range of study continues to inform my sculptural practice, giving me an understanding of composition, spatial awareness, and presentation that extends beyond any single medium. My experience with a mock gallery installation, in particular, shaped the way I consider how work exists within a space and how viewers physically interact with it.
Influenced by experiences with home renovation and working directly with physical space, I approach art as a process of construction and transformation. Cutting, assembling, and reworking materials allows me to respond in the moment, often making last-minute decisions that shape the final outcome. This improvisational method is essential to my practice, as it embraces unpredictability and allows the work to evolve naturally rather than follow a rigid plan.
My sculptures and various art mediums exist at the intersection of structure and spontaneity—where careful consideration meets instinct. By combining found objects, handcrafted techniques, and an openness to change, I create work that reflects both the physical world around me and the process of making itself.
