About

Sarah Bales Losey is a painter, printmaker, and designer based in Fort Worth, Texas. She is currently pursuing an Interdisciplinary Studio Art MFA at Texas Woman’s University. Following her undergraduate studies at Texas State University, Losey worked as a graphic designer, traveled to 49 countries as a flight attendant, and spent six years teaching art in Dallas and Fort Worth. The birth of her daughter in 2021 marked a turning point, leading her to more fully embrace her studio practice and public art career. In recent years, she has developed a growing body of work alongside large-scale public art, including a 2,880 square foot mural installation in Fort Worth’s Near Southside district.

Artist Statement

My current body of work explores light, geometry, and perception through color and minimal abstraction. I am interested in how color and light can create a felt experience in the body, both consciously and subconsciously. Using repeated forms and nuanced color relationships, I create minimal compositions that invite slower looking, presence, and moments of noticing. Mindfulness is part of both my process and how I hope the work is experienced. I want the work to stay approachable, so viewers can feel that pause or moment of noticing, even if they would not describe it in those exact words.
