At Cook Children's, our Creative Arts Program helps to bring a more colorful world to the art of healing. In a place that may sometimes feel stressful, we help patients and families find ther voice - and a little bit of magic - through painting, drawing, collage, and more. Our belief? Creativity is a superpower! it can help everyone regain a sense of control, express feelings and build connections. Our creative arts program is all about turning emotions into art and art into comfort. Because when creativity flow, healing flows.

Call to Artists
Apply to participate in the first annual Chalk Art Festival at Cook Children's celebrating world art day. This is a live outdoor art event celebrating creativity community, and large-scale temporary artwork. Selected artists will transform a section of pavement into bright chalk murals while patients and families are invited to watch the artists in real time and admire finished piece as well as participate in arts and crafts. We welcome artists of all styles and experience levels who are 16 years of age and up. Artists will be provided a designated chalk space and basic materials. Selected participants will have 4 hours to complete their art during the event timeframe while interacting respectfully with fellow artists, staff, and patients and families.

Cook Children’s Medical Center is looking for a Contract Visual Artist to join our Creative Arts team! This role supports patients and families through meaningful, creative engagement using therapeutic art techniques in a pediatric healthcare setting.
Position details:
• 21 hours per week
• Set schedule: Monday–Wednesday, 9:00–4:30
• Contract position
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Strong background in visual arts
• Experience working with children required
• Experience in a hospital or healthcare setting preferred
• Ability to work independently while collaborating with an interdisciplinary team
• Flexibility, empathy, and comfort working in a fast-paced pediatric environment
